The Department of Internal Affairs and New Zealand Police are alerting the public to a SMS phishing campaign. Messages indicate you’ve received a notification from your bank and ask you to click a link and complete a transfer payment. If you receive any suspicious text messages, do not click any links included in the message.
Report the text spam for free by forwarding the message to 7726.
Remember genuine banks or organisations never contact you to ask for your PIN, password or to move money to another account. If you are in any doubt about a message, contact your bank directly to confirm before clicking any links.
If you’ve been a victim of a scam you can contact CERT NZ at cert.govt.nz or call 0800 2378 69 for advice and support.

   Today was amazing! We not only helped many local car and tool owners protecting their assets, but we reached a milestone. This event is proof that a small group of committed people working together can change things. Thanks to the support of Beach Haven Birkdale Residents Association, RSA Birkenhead, and Beach Haven Tennis Club we were able to get here.  Special thanks to Sgt. D. Murden, who gave valuable advice about crime prevention to the attendants. We're locals, volunteering to improve safety in our neighbourhood. Get in touch if you wanna join us.

  Police would like to remind vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are secured and any valuable items are removed when they’re unattended. While Police are committed to actively investigating vehicle theft and holding offenders to account, people should take precautions to prevent their vehicle from being targeted. 🔐 Ensure your vehicle is locked, and all valuable items removed or concealed from view when you are not with it. 🔐 If possible, park your vehicle in a garage, but if it must be parked on the road, try to park in a well-lit, busy area. 🔐 Invest in a steering wheel lock or other anti-theft devices for vehicles and trailers.
